Hey, I’m Julia.
I’ve been doing hair for 15 years, I specialize in shags, bobs, and wild curls. I also do some low-maintenance color (think dimensional brunettes that grow out easy). My whole thing is creating cuts and color that feel like you and don’t take a ton of work to style.
I was born and raised in the Valley, and moved to Long Beach (which I loved) to start my career at Toni & Guy and later worked on set doing hair and makeup. It was exciting and full of cool experiences, but the pace wasn’t sustainable, it burned me out. I ended up moving to Ventura and working in Ojai, a place that’s always been close to my heart. I had the best clients there and made amazing friends, leaving was hard. Now I’m back in the Valley, working in Studio City and building something that feels more aligned with who I am now.
Sometimes I Do Hair started as a way to show more than just haircuts. I wanted space to talk about the messy, in-between parts of being a hairstylist, the stuff that doesn’t fit neatly into a square. It’s grown into something bigger: Sometimes I do hair, has branched off into a place for honest conversations, talking about salon life, an advice column for hairstylists who want real talk, peer support, and a little less pressure to be perfect all the time. And a place to build community with everyone through hair care and trends, pop culture, local restaurants recommendations and everything in between, Like the kind of conversations we have when you sit in my chair. And I can’t wait to see how this place evolves, because I have plans.
Outside the salon, I’m into ceramics, comfort TV, mental health convos, slow mornings, and making cozy meals. I’m also a proud cat mom.
Basically, this is a space for all the things that make up a full life — not just the highlight reel.
